Fremont Street Experience in the Las Vegas Downtown AreaThe Las Vegas Downtown area, which begins about a mile north of the Stratosphere Tower, is the birthplace of the gambling heaven. It's where it all began, the casinos, the neon lights, and all that's Vegas. But, these days, all the glitz of downtown Vegas has to compete with a relative newcomer, the Las Vegas Strip. Much of the action has moved to the Strip, but the Las Vegas downtown area still has much to offer, and the competition has further stimulated redevelopment and new attractions. One such downtown attraction is the Fremont Street Experience, which is a spectacular computer-generated light show given on a 1,400 foot long mesh of lights suspended 90 feet above four blocks of the Fermont Street promenade. Shows begin after dark and run once an hour on the hour. The Fremont Street Experience, which is free to the public, includes two million light bulbs and over 200 speakers blasting 540,000 watts of concert hall quality music. The shows change throughout the night and seasonally. Fremont Street itself is a center of activity and has plenty of retail stores and casinos. You'll also find more than enough strip clubs, liquor stores, and souvenir shops. Location: On Fremont Street, b/w Main Street and Las Vegas Boulevard (in the Las Vegas Downtown Area).
