Guggenheim Hermitage Museum at the Venetian Hotel and CasinoAside from canals, gondolas, and beautiful scenery, the Venetian Hotel and Casino is also home to the Guggenheim Hermitage Museum. This museum opened at the Venetian Hotel in the fall of 2001, and has been drawing a steady crowd ever since. The Guggenheim Hermitage Museum is a collaboration between the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia, and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation in New York, who chose the unlikely city of Las Vegas as the location of their joint venture. Its exhibitions are based on the collections of both the Guggenheim and Hermitage museums, and include paintings previously never seen outside of Russia. New exhibitions are organized approximately twice a year, and much of the gallery space is designated for traveling exhibitions. If you feel like taking a break from the sin of "Sin City" and want soak in some high culture, this Venetian Hotel museum is for you. The collection ranges from late 19th to early 20th century art, and includes paintings by famous painters such as Vincent Van Gogh, Henri Rousseau, Paul Cezanne, Pierre Auguste Renoir, Marc Chagall, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, and many others. Location: 3355 Las Vegas Boulevard South (Center Strip at the Venetian Hotel and Casino). Phone: (866)484-4849.
