Las Vegas Packages - Travel and Vacation

What is a Travel Package

A travel or vacation package is simply a way to purchase several aspects of your trip together at a discount, and pay less than you would if you were buying them separetaly. Most common are air & hotel packages, but sometimes other aspects of your vacation, such as a car rental, ground transportation, and show tickets can also be a part of a single deal. Often, you'll also get "freebies" such as show tickets, meals, and shopping coupons with your package.

The reason package deals can be cheaper is that they are offered by companies that buy them in bulk and resell them to individuals, while passing on some of the savings. Hotels and airlines are particularly interested in selling their services in bulk during off peak times, and essentially out-source the task of filling in their vacant spots. One consequence of this is that it may be difficult to find cheap Las Vegas packages during busy times, but this sould not be a problem if you have a flexible vacation schedule. Las Vegas hotels are usually very busy Friday through Saturday, and less so Sunday to Thursday.

How to Make Sure You're Getting a Good Deal on Your Las Vegas Travel Package

While most Las Vegas packages do offer a good deal, unfortunately some do not. There are two main reasons a package might be bad:

  1. The package seller just decided to profit more and not pass on any savings to unsuspecting travelers.
  2. The package comes with several extra bonuses, or "freebies", which you end up paying for anyway as nothing is free, that don't get used.
Therefore, before going ahead with a travel package, you may want to check that the package is really cheaper than getting its items separately, e.g. hotel room, airline tickets, car rental, etc. If it's even, you may want to go with the package anyway to save the time and trouble of booking things individually. Also think if the added extras, such as show tickets, and meal and gift coupons are really things you're going to use. If not, you might be able to find a cheaper package that just doesn't include them.
